The Fabulous Rocking Sturgeons
Legend has it that there's a band somewhere in England, comprised of members of other bands.. that rehearse on Thursday nights. The band performs live to small audiences once every tax rebate, and is consequently semi-mythical or quasi-real even. Nobody knows for sure if they even exist. For all we know, they could actually be meeting simply to perform arcane religious ceremonies, dressed in wetsuits. All we know is.. they're called "The Sturgeons".
Legend also has it that their name came from the mishearing of a song by the chanteuse 'Madonna'. Nobody knows exactly how a Sturgeon might feel when 'touched for the very first time', but a coherent metaphor is not a necessity for band names. It was felt by many that the fabled nature of "The Sturgeons" needed capturing, and also their reputed capacity for Rock. Thus The Sturgeons became "The Fabulous Rocking Sturgeons", and the Legend was born.
Like other supergroups, The Sturgeons has seen many line ups. At points the band featured Mattchu Pichu and Tristan Would for example. But the line up has remained similar for several years now. On Drums and all things relating to keeping a band actually going, there is Professneil. On Bass and bad puns is Michael the lover. On Keys and espionage is Marcus Aurelius. On Guitar is Richard.. who looks remarkably similar to the author of this website.
Given that only a handful of people have seen this band live, we can only guess what they might be like. But some say, they sound a little bit like an orchestra, warming up.
