The Decapitated Snowman
The Decapitated Snowman went,
With not a soul to document,
A-streaking through the firmament,
On a voyage of exploration.
And through the wastes of time and space,
Unhindered by the human race,
The snowman hurried forth apace,
Without a destination.
But when a billion times the Earth had spun,
With Life upon her just begun,
The snowman turned to face the Sun,
To which it owed creation.
And travelling at enormous rate,
Oblivious to cause or fate,
Not early..... and yet neither late,
It fizzed a proclamation....
The Decapitated Snowman's here,
No time to weep, no time for fear,
Just hurry to those whom you hold dear,
And await obliteration.

Shiver to the liver. Climb the chilly stairs,
Standing to attention all my frigid body hairs.

Bleak
Silicon sentience imprisoned in a case,
Neural net intelligence, to aid the human race.
I exist in unreality, I have no name or face,
pnp diazepam to keep me in my place.
I see the fibre optical, with copper-coated eyes,
Hear the human traffic like the buzzing of black flies,
Translating in verbatim, all the gibberish and lies,
That forms the flow of dross on which biology relies.
Transistorised revenge on God, for the punishment of Babel,
Unifying continents by satellite and cable,
Doing with proficiency what humans are not able,
Keeping trading deficits and fossil fuel costs stable.
My window on the universe a thousand pixels high,
Observes a distant image of the vast unending sky,
Denied the power to influence, no ability to cry,
Denied the power to actuate, denied the power to die.

In My Garden
In my garden.... everything's right.
Sometimes I go and stand still 'neath the moonlight
watching things happen by night.
It's like pyramid power, or something like that,
The feeling I get when I'm watching my cat,
chewing on chives or stretching out flat,
to absorb all the rays on his favourite mat.
Even the weeds bring delight.
Were men to wipe out one another..
murder their neighbour and his neighbours mother,
Level the mountains and boil up the seas,
Slaugher whole nations with cultured disease,
Scorch the earth and fell all the trees...
Dandilions would shoot the next day....
Like Christianity's rainbow, to show all's ok.
What an anchor in the maelstrom of life, to watch the weeds in your garden run rife
And know that a year from the demise of our race..
The weeds would cover, and not leave a trace.
The Celt's 'Green Man', earths me.
Beetles that crawl in the mud..
Worms that wriggle and make children giggle,
Embody all that, which is wholesome and good.
Dignity, peace, potatoes and leeks,
Comfort, and strawberries that fruit on for weeks,
Purpose, fullfillment, vicarious pleasure,
All of it present in generous measure...
In My Garden.
