The Concept
MohtZee is an implementation of the popular dice game 'YahtZee', for all Java enabled devices.
There are many games for the new smart phones, but most of them fail to grasp the reality that these devices are not games consoles!
MohtZee has been created especially for mobile phones, and is designed to be as easy and convenient to play as possible.
You could get out your phone at the bus stop (ok, or on the underground platform) and continue a game, stop when the bus arrives, and continue once comfortably seated.

How To Play
The game is a little like the card game 'poker', but played with 5 dice.
Each turn consists of three rolls of the dice, and at each roll you may 'hold' any of the dice to prevent them from rolling.
The aim is to make the dice show certain patterns (like a flush, or prile in cards).
So, for instance your first roll of the turn gives you : 2,2,3,5,6.
You hold the 2's, and on your next roll you get : 2,2,4,1,2
You hold the new 2, and on your last roll you get : 2,2,3,3,2
This is one of the patterns you have to achieve, a 'Full House' (three of one and two of another), so you enter this score as a 'full house' and get 25 points (that's just what you get for a full house).
You start again on your first roll of the next turn, and try to achieve another pattern.
If at the end of 3 rolls you haven't made a pattern, that's bad luck, you must use up a pattern score anyway, even if you score zero points!
When all patterns are used, the game ends and your final score is shown.
The patterns you have to achieve are as follows:
Ones : You get a point for every dice which shows a 1. This is a low scoring pattern, so people tend to use this pattern as a dump when they've tried to go for a higher scoring pattern but failed.
Twos : A point for every dice showing a 2. Again, a maximum of 10 points is not a particularly high scoring pattern
Threes : A point for every dice showing a 3.
Fours : A point for every dice showing a 4
Fives : A point for every dice showing a 5. This would give a maximum of 25 points, so you really need to get as many fives in this as possible.
Sixes : A point for every dice showing a 6. Many people belive that the 6's score item is key to the whole game. Because :
There is a bonus of 35 points for achieving an average of three dice for each of the above patterns (ie. three 1's, three 2's......)
So if you get 4 sixes, you don't need to get any 2's at all, and you can still achieve your bonus!
Chance : A point for every dot on the dice
Three of a kind : A point for every dot on the dice, as long as three of the dice are the same
Four of a kind : A point for every dot on the dice, as long as four of the dice are the same
Small Straight : 30 points if you get 4 of the dice in sequence (ie, 6,3,6,5,4)
Large Straight : 40 points if you get all 5 of the dice in sequence (ie, 6,2,5,4,3)
Full House : 35 points of if you get 3 dice the same, and the other 2 dice the same.
MOHTZEE! : 50 points (initially but if you get this more than once per game the points go up rapidly). All dice the same!
The MOHTZEE score is peculiar in that you can get a MOHTZEE more than once in a game. This is not the case with the other patterns

Platforms
MohtZee was originally developed for the Nokia 3650. One of the first Java enabled phones with a high resolution colour screen.
The game will run on most Java enabled devices however, since the graphics are scalable.
